42 | 43 42 | 43 Das Österreichische Zimmer erhielt seine Bezeichnung nach den ehemals hier hängenden Porträts von Mitgliedern des österreichischen Kaiserhauses. Mit den Habsburgern verbanden die Wettiner seit dem Übertritt Augusts des Starken zum katholischen Glauben zahlreiche verwandtschaftliche Beziehungen und politische Interessen. Die blaue Papiertapete wurde im 19. Jahrhundert als Ersatz für eine ehemalige blaue Seidenbespannung angebracht. Unter Johann von Sachsen fand in diesem Raum der Schul­ unterricht für die königlichen Kinder statt. Since the conversion of Augustus the Strong to Catholic beliefs, numerous family relations and political interests have bound the House of Habsburg to the House of Wettin. The blue wallpaper was put up in the 19 th century to replace the former blue silk wall covering. School lessons for the royal children were given in this room under John of Saxony.
